*Burkina Faso Unveils Its First Locally Made Electric Car*

Burkina Faso has achieved a significant milestone by unveiling its first fully indigenous electric vehicle, branded as ITAOUA. This development underscores the nation’s commitment to technological advancement and sustainable transportation.

This initiative aligns with Burkina Faso’s broader strategy to modernize its economy and government operations. In March 2024, President Ibrahim Traoré announced plans to establish an electric vehicle production plant and replace all government vehicles with electric cars to reduce fuel consumption and promote environmental sustainability.

With a 30 minute charging time and a range of 330 kilometers (205 miles), the car is set to transform transportation in Burkina Faso and beyond.

Notably, the car’s efficiency positions it as a game-changer. Its impressive range and minimal energy consumption make it ideal for both urban and rural settings.

The launch of the ITAOUA electric vehicle not only reflects Burkina Faso’s potential in the electric vehicle market but also serves as an inspiration for other nations within the continent to pursue technological advancements.

With this success, Burkina Faso proves that with determination, vision, and unity, any challenge can be transformed into an opportunity.
